The arrest of Jagneswar Nath, ACS in connection with the Rs 60 lakh scam committed by him ,while working as the Project Director of DRDA, Golaghat unearthed by the Krishak Mukti Sang ram Samittee(KMSS) by using the provisions of the Right to Information Act, 2005 is perhaps the first case of its kind in Assam where activists of RTI Act had been successful in exposing rampant corruption prevalent in implementing schemes such as Indira Awash Yojana(IAY) and Sampoorna Gramin Rojgar Yojana(SGRY) in DRDA, Golaghat.Credit for exposing the scam should also go to the activist Akhil Ranjan Gogoi, Secretary of KMSS for persistently following the irregularities committed in the DRDA, Golaghat by using his right to information as per the RTI Act.
