The State Information Commission has expressed its displeasure over the failure of the Government in initiating action against the officers involved in the corrupt practices in the Public Distribution System (PDS) scam in Golaghat, and conveyed this to the Chief Secretary, Government of Assam. The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) which had unearthed a series of scams in the PDS in Golaghat, Jorhat and Sivasagar districts by accessing information under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, had alleged before the Commission that no action was taken against the guilty officials exposed by the KMSS and the RTI.
