Kannur Collectorate renovation: Where did all the money go?

The People's Council for Civil Rights, Thalassery, which has collected detailed figures concerning the renovation work of the Collectorates under the Modernising Government Programme (MGP) in the state, invoking the Right to Information Act, has taken up the issue with the Chief Minister and demanded a probe. The highest amount of Rs 4.25 crore was spent on Kannur Collectorate. The amount spent on the renovation of the Ernakulam Collectorate, the industrial nerve-centre of the state, was only Rs 4.14 crore. The amount spent on the Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode Collectorates were Rs.45.27 lakh and Rs.2.98 crore respectively, according to the information supplied by the State Public Information Officer at the Land Revenue Commissionerate, Thiruvananthapuram.
