Message from the organisers.
Dear Friends,
As we all know that the RTI Act is very soon going to complete the
third year of its implementation. Since October 2005 it has seen many
ups and down. The attitude of the governments towards this act is of
great concern to all of us, who is trying hard to defeat this act.
More unfortunate is the attitude of the real guardians of this act on
whose functioning depends the actual success of this law i.e the
information commissions.
We all has been discussing on the problems and the achievements of
this act on various occasions. Many of the RTI activists are strongly
feeling that now there should be some activity on the forefront across
the country on the occasion of the 3rdanniversary of the RTI act like
' Drive Against Bribe' kind of campaign or nationwide agitations /
dharnas. There are other ideas also.
To decide on all this a meeting will be held of all RTI activists
across the country on 28th and 29th of July,2008 at ' Gandhi Peace
Foundation, Deen Dayal Upadhaya Marg, New Delhi.
This meeting will provide a platform to old and new friends to come
together and share their views on how to take this movement forward.
We hope you and/or representatives from your campaign, group and or
organisation will come for the meeting.
Since this meeting is an initiative of all of us, therefore the
participants are expected to bear their own expenses. However we can
provide boarding facilities to those who are in need of it. For this
you have to intimate us as early as possible so that we make the
arrangements accordingly. All other meeting expenses will be taken
care by us.
This is a preliminary letter to inform you all about the meeting, we
hope you will block these dates. A letter containing meeting details
will follow soon.

P.S :- NDTV has agreed to do a one hour special ( as part of their
weelkly show on RTI) on the issues of this meeting. The shoot will be
done on the second half of the second day of the meeting.
