Information Commission expressed anger for the delay caused in providing information by the Registrar of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi and imposed fine. The present V.C. of S.V. University earlier worked as Principal of S.V. University Arts and Science College. One Ravisankar requested details of some activities of the V.C. when he was working as Principal, under RTI Act. The Registrar delayed furnishing of the required information. Approaching the A.A. was futile. Hence, Ravisankar complained to the SIC which enquired into the matter. SIC held that the Registrar deliberately delayed the matter and imposed a fine of Rs.662 to be recovered from the Registrar's salary and ditected that the information required by Ravisankar be provided immediately. The Commission also found fault with the style of functioning of the Registrar in another matter. Ravisankar filed another application for some information relating to S.V. University. As the same was not provided, he approahed the SIC which issued summons to the Registrar to appear before it. (Source: Eenadu, Telugu Daily, dt.19-2-07)
