HC admits govt plea on Chilka firing

Orissa High Court today allowed a petition filed by the government that sought a stay on the state information commission's order for supply of the report of a judicial commission headed by a sitting judge to a human rights activist. Justice P.K. Tripathy Commission had probed into the police firing, in which five fishermen were killed at Sorana near Chilka on May 29, 1999. Kanungo had moved the State Information Commission after the home department had rejected his application for a copy of the report under the Right to Information Act.
