The Andhra Pradesh Government has come out with two versions of information on the proposed dam across the Palar, which has become a bone of contention between the people of Vellore and their counterpart in Chittoor district.A reply from the deputy secretary to the AP Government and Public Relations Officer, Irrigation and CAD Department at the Secretariat, in response to a petition from social worker M M Basheer of Vaniyambadi here, seeking information under the Right to Information Act, on the proposed dam across the Palar in the upstream at Kuppam, said the request for information was rejected since the matter was pending in the Supreme Court.On the other hand, the other one from the Superintending Engineer, Chittoor Irrigation Circle, has advised Basheer to contact the Executive Engineer, Palamaner Irrigation Division for more details since the reservoir was proposed to be constructed across the Palar at Ganeshpuram in Kuppam Mandal, which falls within his limits.
